An old sawmill recreated as a modern hostel – Sågverket, Härnösand, Sweden

At Höga kusten in the northeast of Sweden, an old main building at the sawmill have been revived as a hostel. It´s an old, beautiful old villa that has found it´s new purpose in life as a hostel/conferencecenter. Most of the furniture is second-hand but well put together in a modern and personal style.

In the summer they have live music in the garden and exhibitions with local artists as well as a show with the local dance-company Norrdans the 19 july. The hostels restaurant is very popular as well as the weekend brunch, not only by the guests but also by the locals.

What I like about this is that it´s in a way back to the basics. Let go of the stressfull life in the city and get out in nature. I like the turnabout the owners did by leaving their old jobs at a sales-/communications-/pr-firm, sold their apartements in Stockholm and bought this old main building at the sawmill and recreated it as this hostel.
